Its construction started in October 1937, but the events connected with the Munich Treaty and the decline of Czechoslovakia in 1938 thwarted its completion. Stachelberg captures visitors’ attention by its military and historical exposition, where one can see models of infantry weapons, fortress equipment, plans, photographic documents, and a plastic table showing the fortress when completed. A part of the underground with a maze of stores, barracks and communication corridors is open to the public, as well. Not far from Trutnov, in the vicinity of the village of Libeč, you have an opportunity to visit another fortification dating back to 1935-38 – the infantry log cabin T-S 63, which is open every first Saturday, April to October.
